Teh Tarik is bad for health

Dear Teh Tarik lovers, please refrain from drinking too much of this drink that has very high sugar content that comes from condensed milk.

I used to drink Teh Tarik quite often but now thank God I don't really drink anymore ;-) Plain water or "sky juice" is my favourite drink now.

"The number of stroke prone Malaysians is growing and their ages are getting younger, all because of their love for teh tarik and meat, warned a doctor." - The Straits Times, 4 Jan 2006.

  • I think the Spore version not so bad. In Ipoh, we had to tell them "not so sweet' - and still it came in so sweet. Well, at least my kids got to learn one more Cantonese expression. Haha.

  • I have not drunk Teh Tarik from the Indian store for a long time . But I have to admit that it's a nice drink especially for those who have sweet tooth ;-)My mom made her own version of tea (Lipton tea with condensed milk and milk powder)for me every morning ;p . Maybe it is more 'powerful' then Teh Tarik ;p

  • A lot of things that we eat have high-energy content, be it sugar or carbonhydrates. Just be watchful and have a balanced diet and EXERCISE. Not easy to eat well and spend time to exercise in a fast-paced, stressful society. BUT we still need to resolve to do IT for a healthier body, mind and soul ;-) Sound as if I am an expert...haha!!

  • Wooo... luckily for me I am not a teh-tarik fan cos I tried it once and didn't like the after taste. BUT then again, coke light isn't exactly a safe drink for my health too. Hehehe!

  • Have you guys tried teh hahlia? Its tea with ginger. Usually you can get it at Indian drink stalls. Quite popular among some of the 'laudies'.

Warning - better ask for less sugar it you want to try.

  • Teh Tarik is tea with milk yeah?

When i was in university and living out I used to have a cuppa every evening after dinner. That was my favourite part of dinner, plus the oranges and Muller yogurt.

But don't think I used condensed milk back then, thankfully. ;)

  • Yes. I tried Teh Hahlia before. It's good.

Pei Shan, Teh Tarik is tea with condensed milk but tastes very different from the one we make with LIPTON tea bag. U should try it at the indian store at least once but ask for less sugar. ;-)

  • I wonder if they put the same thing in Horlicks as they do in teh tarik. Everytime I drink Horlicks, I feel like my heart is going to explode from beating too fast!

By Blogger INK, at 9:33 PM

  • Really? I think Horlick is too high-energy for you ;p Horlick is one of my favourite drink ;-)
